Hydrologic Outlook issued June 22 at 11:31AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL ESFLOT Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move across much of northern IL this evening. Heavy rainfall rates of up to two inches per hour will be possible with these storms as they shift east southeastward across northern Illinois through the evening. Rainfall amounts of this magnitude may cause instances of localized flash flooding, along with significant rises on area streams and rivers, some of which could reach or exceed flood stage, especially along portions of the Rock river. This outlook means that elevated water levels and potential impacts are possible, but not yet certain. Persons with interests along area streams and rivers should closely monitor the latest forecasts. There are currently no updates scheduled for this outlook.

In northeast Illinois, Central Cook, DuPage, Eastern Will, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake IL, McHenry, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Southern Cook and Southern Will. * WHEN...Until 1 AM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms will develop into Northern Illinois this evening with locally heavy rainfall possible. The potential for slow movement or training of thunderstorm cells may produce rainfall amounts in excess of 2 inches with localized amounts in excess of 4 inches possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts.
