Flood Watch issued June 22 at 7:37PM CDT until June 23 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Illinois, including the following areas, in north central Illinois, Boone, De Kalb, La Salle, Lee, Ogle and Winnebago. In northeast Illinois, Central Cook, DuPage, Eastern Will, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake IL, McHenry, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Southern Cook and Southern Will. * WHEN...Until 1 AM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms will develop into Northern Illinois this evening with locally heavy rainfall possible. The potential for slow movement or training of thunderstorm cells may produce rainfall amounts in excess of 2 inches with localized amounts in excess of 4 inches possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. Flood Advisory issued June 23 at 12:06AM CDT until June 23 at 3:15AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook and Will and northwest Indiana, including the following county, Lake IN. * WHEN...Until 315 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1206 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Aurora, Joliet, Naperville, Hammond, Gary, Bolingbrook, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Romeoville, Plainfield, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Woodridge, Chicago Heights, Roseland, East Chicago and Schererville. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring.
