Heavy Rain Watch Area: Wellington, Porirua, Hutt and Upper Hutt Cities and the Kapiti Coast District Forecast: Rain is expected to develop this afternoon and become heavy this evening, with the possibility of thunderstorms. Rainfall accumulations may approach warning criteria and there is the chance of localised heavy falls of 25 mm per hour, or even more, which will cause surface flooding if it occurs over an urban area. For the Kapiti Coast District, the risk is more likely in the south but the whole district is under the Watch as a precaution. Impact: Note: A Severe Weather Warning or Watch means conditions are favourable for severe weather in and close to the indicated area.
